Along with globalization, the challenges facing a hospital are no longer the same. Competition between hospitals, for example, is now not only local or regional, but also national and even international. Studying the experience of hospitals in other countries can expand the horizons of the challenges faced by other countries’ hospitals, so that later it becomes a provision to bring Indonesian hospitals as high-quality and competitive hospitals. This is what MMRS wants to present through student outbound programs for students who will enter the 2nd semester in 2021.
In contrast to previous years, the series of student outbound programs implemented on March 9-11, 2021 is packaged online to reduce COVID transmission in the pandemic era. Learning using online media did not dampen the enthusiasm of students in participating in student outbond programs. Conversely, online packaging has its own specialty because it is able to present experts from several countries at once, which is difficult to do if the program is implemented offline.
With the theme “Hospital Strategy to Achieve Sustainability: Looking Toward Saving Tomorrow Resources”, the program began with a joint lecture presenting Dr. Ye Htut, MBBS, MPP, MHA, CPHQ from Flinders University, Australia and Aryo Dewanto, SE, MM. The presence of these two experts is able to give students a general understanding of sustainaibility. The event continued with virtual hospital visit Theptarin Hospital Thailand, KPJ Penang Specialist Hospital Malaysia, King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital Thailand, and Al Sharq Hospital United Arab Emirates. The existence of these four hospitals is also able to present an overview of how foreign hospitals manage their resources well to achieve the quality of service they want. Students also respond positively to the knowledge they have gained. For example, after the first visit to Theptarin Hospital, one of the students said “Theptarin Hospital has shown me a promising system”.
